Get organized
Put together a folder, binder or notebook where you can keep track of all of your move related lists, paperwork and thoughts.
Start sorting
Decide what to keep, what to discard and what to donate. This is your chance to do that purge you’ve been meaning to do for so long. A good rule of thumb often is, if you haven’t worn or used an item in over a year, it’s probably ok to let it go.
7 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Get supplied
Write a description for this list item and include information that will interest site visitors. For example, you may want to describe a team member’s experience, what makes a product special, or a unique service that you offer.
Sell, Sell, Sell
Utilize services like Facebook marketplace and KIJIJI to sell some of the items you’ve decided not to bring with you. If you’re moving in the spring or summer, you can even plan a good ol-fashioned garage sale.
6 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Medical Records
If you are moving away from your area, check with your doctor to get copies of your family’s medical records.
Notify schools
If you have kids that will be going to a new school, tell the staff at their current school and get copies of their school records. Also look into enrollment at schools near your new home.
5 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Book your move
This is when you should be booking your move with us to ensure that we will be available to get you to your new home.
4 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Start packing non-essentials
Now you can begin packing the non-essential items in your house. Off-season clothing & equipment, toys & other items.
Notify utilities
Beginning the process of scheduling your utility disconnections will ensure that you don’t get stuck with utility bill overlap. This is also when you should set up utilities for your new home.
Notify landlord
Moving from a rental? Notify your landlord and find out when you can get your security deposit returned.
3 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Think about your food
Time to finish up all that food that you don’t want to move. Try to end up with an empty freezer and pantry.
Pets & plants
Plants do not pack especially well in our trucks, so it’s best to make arrangements to get your pets & plants to your new home through your personal vehicle or other means.
Change your address
Time to change your mailing address on the Canada Post website. Notify your bank and credit cards of your new address at this time as well.
Transfer your insurance
Contact your home insurance to transfer your insurance policy to your new home.
2 WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Get packing
It’s go time. Get packing everything. Labeling boxes with what rooms they should be put in at your new home will save you hours of re-organizing once we’ve moved you in.
Valuables
Keeping valuables organized together will help keep them from being mixed up with other items.
Clean your new home
If your new home needs a good cleaning, make arrangements to have it cleaned before you arrive.

Confirm with us
Give us a call and confirm the time, date and any other details to ensure a smooth move.
Pack an essentials kit
Prepare a bag of important items that you will need right away at your new home and take it with you in your personal vehicle.

If your new home needs a good cleaning, make arrangements to have it cleaned before you arrive.

Moving day is a document-heavy day. Make sure you are well organized so you don’t have to go hunting through boxes for forgotten documents.
Clean your fridge & pantry
Clean out your fridge & freezer. Check all cupboards and pantry for any open food containers.
Clean your new home
If your new home needs a good cleaning, make arrangements to have it cleaned before you arrive.

Take one careful last walk-through to say goodbye to your old home, and make sure you haven’t left anything behind.
